Hometown Heroes Occupation List
The Hometown Heroes Occupation list to be eligible for the Florida Hometown Heroes Program are listed below. There are two list of approved occupations. The first list is for all approved occupations and the second list is for those positions that require a license or certification for the Florida Hometown Heroes Program. Please reference and request certification or license as indicated with each eligible occupation for the Hometown Heroes Program in Florida. You must get certified by taking a homebuying education course.

You must work at least 35 hours per week.
Effective July 1, 2023, the Hometown Heroes Program in Florida recognizes specific eligible occupations for individuals seeking assistance in achieving homeownership. This program, supported by the Florida legislature, aims to provide a helping hand to hometown heroes who contribute significantly to their communities. Eligible occupations include healthcare professionals, first responders, educators, and other essential service providers. To qualify, individuals must demonstrate their intention to make the purchased property their primary residence. The Hometown Heroes Program offers various payment assistance programs to facilitate homeownership, ensuring that these deserving individuals can establish a stable and secure foundation in their communities. It is now open to all employees in Florida who work at least 35 hours per week and was an employee in the state in 2022 prior to the program launch.

As of July 1st, 2023, the Hometown Heroes Program in Florida, administered by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation, offers significant benefits to eligible individuals in specific occupations. The program recognizes the invaluable contributions made by hometown heroes and aims to assist them in achieving their dream of homeownership. Eligible occupations for the Hometown Heroes Program include a wide range of professions, including but not limited to healthcare providers, first responders, educators, and those pursuing hometown pharmacy careers. The program offers favorable terms, such as a first mortgage loan amount that helps hometown heroes secure affordable financing options. Through the Mortgage Loan Live Local Act, the Hometown Heroes Program supports these eligible occupations and enables them to establish strong roots within their communities by becoming homeowners. FL Hometown Heroes First Mortgage Programs

Florida’s median house prices have increased by more than 58 percent over the past six years. Despite this significant growth, household incomes have stagnated, making it difficult for most people to keep up with the rising property prices. As Florida’s housing crisis worsens, many critical workers such as teachers, nurses, and police officers find it difficult to purchase a house. Fortunately, the introduction of the Florida Hometown Heroes Housing Program is projected to offer relief to these heroes by allowing income-qualified professionals in these frontline workers to secure zero-interest loans and down payments and closing cost assistance through affordable second mortgages.
